Castle Street
This street running between High Street and London Road was originally known as New Street, it is likely the name changed to Castle Street following the opening of Castle Hotel or Inn in the Regency period, with a frontage on to London Road. The hotel closed in 1975 and was converted first to offices and is now flats. What is now Cassidy's Sports Bar (10-12) previously known as The Village Inn, was originally the tap room of the hotel.
