Vale Road
Vale Road was originally known as Bath Yard, but by the time of the 1867 town development plan, was shown as Vale Road, possibly because the road slopes down from the junction of the High Street and Mount Pleasant towards London Road, and clearly by this time no longer just a yard. Tunbridge Wells Railway Station can also be accessed from Vale Road, it was opened in 1846. The arrival of the railway triggered rapid development of the town.
Where Range now stands was Christ Church School (built 1856), it was closed in 1969 and later demolished. On the corner of London Road and Vale Road, stands the old post office. On the 5th May 1999 Honeygrove Properties Ltd submitted an application to convert the building into 31 luxury apartments, permission was granted on the 24th September 1999.
